HOW IT AFFECTS

Apart from the risks to human health, another significant area where energy poverty inflicts high damage is in human development and wellbeing. This issue is caused by various reasons ranging from the lack of access to energy, to polluting sources of energy, to even the time wasted looking for sources of energy.

Production of various goods, production of food, access to modern or even basic education, and nearly all other tasks becomes inefficient or sometimes even impossible. For example, evening education at home or schools would cease after sunset as light sources become scarce, hence posing serious issues in the longer term.

The absence of grid-connectivity methods such as powerlines, or the high costs associated with the purchase/usage of available grid-connected electricity are the main causes behind this.
